(a). The Executive Director of the Centre
The position and functions of the Executive Director of the Centre (hereinafter referred to as ED) is established under Article 14 of the constitution of the Zanzibar Legal Services Centre, 1992. The ED is the Chief Executive Officer [Article .14(1)], Principal Officer and Accounting Officer of the Centre [Article 14(4)] accountable to the Board of Trustees of the Centre. The ED is also an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees and its Secretary [Article 9(17)]. The holder of this office should be a holder of a law degree from a recognised University [Article 14(3).
(b). Profile of the Current Executive Director

Ms. Harusi Miraji Mpatani is the Executive Director of the Centre. She holds a law degree from the University of Zanzibar and is currently pursuing graduate studies at the University of Coventry in the United Kingdom. Ms. Mpatani is an Advocate of the High Court of Zanzibar; a member of Zanzibar Law Society; and East African Law Society. She is also active in civil society in the region and serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, the Tanzania Human Rights Defenders; and Focal Person of the Child Protection Desk Supported by Save the Children Fund. Ms. Mpatani has also been very active in support of preparation and publication the Annual Human Rights Report and Zanzibar Yearbook of Law which are all published under the auspices of the Centre. |
