Zanzibar Legal Services Centre (ZLSC) proudly announces the appointment of Ms. Felista William Mauya as its new Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Mauya, has more than 15 years of experience in the legal and human rights sector and will take on the role of CEO from 1st June, 2024.
She will oversee the on-going institutional reforms at ZLSC which seeks to broaden legal aid provision in Zanzibar to enable hundreds of women, men, people with disability, and children in accessing legal aid services.
Ms. Mauya brings to the role a deep understanding of the complex issues surrounding legal and human rights, including the importance of partnering with different actors in improving access to justice in Zanzibar.
As a respected, committed, and progressive leader, Ms. Mauya is ideal to lead the Centre in its next chapter and is well placed as CEO.
Ms. Mauya holds Master’s Degree in International Law and Human Rights from Wuhan University in China and Bachelor of Laws from Mysore University in India. She possesses a vast professional experience in issues concerning human rights, gender, democracy, good governance, and in the interactions between human rights and business.
Felista’s great passion is in empowering women, youth, and people with disabilities to improve access to justice, economic development, and livelihood with a wholesome appreciation of socio- legal challenges and attitudes as well as in the modalities of dispute resolution for the betterment of the society. She is interested in bridging the gap among the communities through “learning by doing motto”.
